Physical Traits:
Eyes: Piercing silver/ black
Hair: Naturally black and white
General Appearance: About five foot seven, Haru is beautiful (like the other Jyuunishi -but less than Yuki as he has not been remarked as a 'girl'); his appearance generalizes him as older than his age, which is sixteen. {should include: stance, complexion, etc.}
Dressing Style: Three earrings are found in each of his ears, and his attire consists of a dark rockish style (usually black pants, a black shirt, and his white coat). He wears quite a lot of jewelry even with his school uniform (which is against the school policy rules). Also, on his left arm a green tattoo can be found.
*Split* Personality:
Character Traits: While 'white' Haru remains placid, composed, and cool, the time when 'black' Haru flickers to life is one which may be triggered with the smallest of insults or comments. Haughty, arrogant, and full of rage, his equanimity shatters completely.
Altogether devoted to the people closest to him, Haru expends all efforts to aid his friends in any possible way - often putting everything else ahead of himself.
Likes: Video games (as shown in Chapter 69), ginger pork, those close to him.
Dislikes: When other people irritate him.
Personal History:
Parents: Haru's parents, unable to control his overwhelming temper, sent him to practice martial arts. Still living with them, he stated within Chapter 43 (after destroying the classroom) that his mother will take an hour to prepare with makeup and his parents will probably laugh. Image concious ((in my opinion)), his mother likes to make a good impression, but she deeply cares for her son.
Haru is an only child although Kisa is like a close sibling to him.
Background Story: Taunts and jeers of 'the Ox is stupid' (for the rat had rode the Ox's back to the banquet, arriving as the first animal in the Jyuunishi) rang throughout Haru's childhood. Later realizing that the adults may have been joking on these comments - the damage they had caused was irreversable. The effects were longterm.. and the result was impacting to his life: the personality 'split' delt with frustration, pain, and resentment. Thus, 'Black Haru' was born.
Enrolled in Martial Arts, this did little to vent the anger surging through him (but his interest in it urged him to continue gaining experience); his sensei was Kazuma Sohma while at the dojo. Not nearly as invincible as Yuki or formidable as Kyo, Hatsuharu is a redoubtable opponent for average martial artists.
Growing up as children, Hatsuharu and Rin (Isuzu) grew close, especially after she began living with Kagura (after problems arouse in her own family). Visiting her, he seemed the only one be able to get her to unnecessarily leave her room. He was her first love, along with one of her only friends.
Over the summer, suddenly breaking up with him - the only words of explanation she gave was "I don't need you anymore" and she was "tired of him". Confronting Akito, she lashes back at him that it was also his fault.. He had known in the back of his mind that this may happen but never came to realization with it out of his unbearable love that he felt.
Yuki Sohma is Haru's closest friend; he had once felt intense resentment toward him (for obvious reasons during the banquet) without ever meeting. Upon finally meeting, Yuki patiently waited until Hatsuharu's shouting dimmed - and he told him that he had never thought in any way that the Ox was stupid. They confide in eachother and have a close relationship.
